# Via International - Building Cross-Border Community Since 1975

## Summary:

Via International is a nonprofit organization based in San Diego, California, and Tijuana, Mexico, dedicated to building community from the inside out. For fifty years, Via has worked at the intersection of social justice, education, and community development — connecting people across borders to create lasting change. Our mission is to promote sustainable development by engaging and supporting leaders in emerging communities, empowering youth and women, and fostering dignity, equity, and opportunity for all.

## Programs:

### Via GO Travel:

Transformative educational and service travel programs based in the San Diego–Tijuana border region and abroad. Trips connect students, faith groups, and community organizations with local leaders engaged in grassroots development.

### Women’s Empowerment:

Via’s community microcredit programs and small-business initiatives help women launch and grow enterprises that strengthen families and neighborhoods.

### Youth Programs:

Through arts, education, and leadership training — including the Somos La Voz youth collective — Via fosters creative expression and civic participation among border youth.
